We had the pleasure on Free Hands Friday of sneaking in an 80 minute session with Detroit area shredder turned NS Stick luthier GARY JIBILIAN...!

Gary was an early adopter of the NS Stick and plays out regularly in the Southern California with big time / big kit drummer Jay Setar in Jibilian/Setar. Here is an excerpt from the San Diego Music Fest in 2006.

Gary has also been an employee of Stick Enterprises for almost 10 years. We heard some great stories from him on what it's like working with Emmett and one in particular about how he came to work for Stick Enterprises. Gary was truly in the right place at the right time and is well known to all NS players and a friend to Stickists everywhere!

Good fun was had by all in attendance, which included a special visit from SG12 man Per Boysen! Lots of good content here - there was some great unrecorded material on the language of Oceans, much of which will remain an inside joke for those that were there. Hopefully, we'll get a Gary and Oceans on a session together in the near future.

It was fun to Watch...again. Few months ago I was looking a lot to this instrument, the NS Stick, and it was nice to see how Gary deals with it. I like his approach, it's quite simple...and as we can see (and hear), it works.

What a great FHF!!!! Gary is a really good storyteller, and so funny. When he mentioned eating hamburgers at Fuddruckers, after hearing everything that led to that,like everyone else, I burst into laughter. That brought me back to Michigan and a slightly less chaotic time in my life. Like all incredible players, he makes it look so easy. But we know better.
