1 - So the first solo gig is coming up tomorrow, and it's time to pack things up. I'm really confident about the way things turned out: managed to have enough songs to play for one hour (a few Bach pieces, a lot of traditional folk songs and even one original I made for the stick, called "Comin' home" witch is kind of the way I feel with this amazing instrument. I'll end up the concert with yet another stupid crazy idea - reciting poetry while I play a musical background at the same time).
2 - been working on a new video for the past week and I think I might be over my head with this one - the music was fairly simple to record, the visual effects however, have been taking most of my time! But I'm having FUN creating things! :)
3 - It paid off waiting so long for the right rig: two Boss GT-001, one Alto live 802 mixing both channels into one single Shertler Jam 150 - I still see the stick as one single instrument, so I really love the fact that it comes from one single sound source, instead of two different amps. GT-001 offers me all I ever wanted: from guitar effects to eq, rev and delay with superb quality and minute space. Plus it has a microphone input with phantom power - what more could a railboard wish for?
4 - everything is small enough that I can take it on my bike except for the piano bench: that is still a huge deal for me: since I play most stuff with my eyes closed, if I change the seat height, everything will be out of place and collapse would be the result tomorrow night. I'm sure time will take care of this issue :)
5 - last but not least: made the order today for a new internet connection - me thinks it's time to have a Skype talk with Greg :)
I think this pretty much sums it up.
The picture is just because my friend in there was really excited that we were thru for the day.
Cheers everyone
Rod
Side note: I'm finally going to meet Dave Thomas from Advanced Audio Microphones tomorrow. He's a Canadian creator of boutique microphones, an amazing man with an amazing story(reminds me a lot of Emmet actually), and he makes the best mic's in the planet! Check him out!!

Videos are a whole other art of it's own but can also be a part of the whole vision you may have.

I haven't put a real emphasis of video into my overall vision yet... but I am trying to conceptualize how I can incorporate visuals in my live show. Lights, projections, etc...

Looking forward to hearing how the gig goes! Also can't wait to watch the video.

Awesome! I want to see gig videos, too!

As for accompanying videos with interesting video effects, might I recommend a good fractal animation video? Hah! I'm kidding. I've never made anything with the purpose of showing it at a live show, but that's an interesting thought. I'd think just rocking the Chapman Stick would be entertainment enough for the masses--says the person whose music may not be interesting enough to get people to listen to it without the dancing fractal bears. I'd like to think the video and the music synergistically add up to something greater than the individual parts, but of course I'd think that. I've gotta justify this obsession somehow.

I'm excited for you on your gig and your new Internet connection and lessons! Very much the best of luck, Rodrigo! You rock!

Well.... I survived it!!!! YEY!
Even when the restaurant owner said: maybe it would be nicer if, instead of playing during dinner, we wait until everyone has eaten and then you give them a full concert...
You couldn't hear a fly if there had been one! But the crowd was very friendly, I got to explain a few things about the instrument, played a lot, made some mistakes but got my way around them without too much fuss: it was really funny seing myself in that situation! And I have a litle video with the highlights just to show I did it ;)

Enjoy if you can, I gotta go practice, "miles to go before I sleep" ;)

Stephen: Fractal is not really my thing - it messes with my brain and I tend to fall from chairs after a while :)
Marty, Bruce: I'ts not a digidi...digod... how do you write this in english? Didgeridoo - got it!
It's a brazilian rain stick... come to think of it, i see a pattern here... hum....stick... maybe a SG12 in the future? ;)
Cheers and thanks for "listening"
Rodrigo
