Gig report & Pirate Video.
I had my Sunday Session today. Sunny Winters day in Aus, everyone out, lots of passing traffic. Went for about an hour as planned. Got off to a great start on the Alto, i know those pieces well, Michael does great sound & fold back i can feel every nuance coming back at me from Foldback. Moved on to the grand and I have to say I'm really loving this one now. Finished on the Alto . By the end I made a few mistakes though people dont really notice, though I do. These informal sessions of which there are so many here in Melbourne are great fun for beginners like me, I've found a whole network of people, opportunities for gigs have opened up and continue to so. Its the best fun just to hang out and chew the musical fat again , like when I was in it full time once. Also good inspiration to get better , fix the mistakes and just develop stage craft & confidence. i wont get far sitting at home I've worked out. The whole thing is on a phone video but below is my favourite thing on the Grand, I've never done it publicly so I can pick holes in it , but it has to start somewhere. It was the one I noticed that really got peoples attention & a bunch of guys wandering past came & parked right in front of me. I call it Steves Trick Bag, though the first segment is an excellent idea I got from Josh. Over time I reckon this can become a fun addition to the list.. 5:00 mins long if you have the time. Once I slapped that bottom string at about 3mins I became eternally grateful that Guru Steve talked me into a Grand.

That was totally and completely awesome captain. Again, it’s just beautiful to see your right hand dancing with those slaps and pops and all!

Nice work Bruce. You're right on track there with the idea that you're only going to get a certain type of practice working on stuff at home. You gotta practice performing and the only way to do that is to perform, and it seems lately you've been getting plenty of practice doing just that.

That's some good stuff, Bruce. I appreciate these videos- you're putting something of a blueprint out there for adding performance to one's development process...getting on a stage is a completely different animal to tame (one which I definitely have not tamed).

The groove is great, the bass is sick , I mean Stick (signature) but when the two kids glide by on their skate-boards this video reaches into the realm of classic, imho.

Yep, "Skater boys & girls " out in force that day. My smallest fan ever turns up outside the window at the very end,

Just catching up Bruce... man, that was great!! You really have that percussion groove going well! I'm a drummer but having trouble translating the Lee Vatip percussion routine like you just did. Faaaantastic!
