Feelers out and a contact says they can offer me a short spot at his venue on Tuesday night in between the house bands stuff. Bingo! I knew of this place, really cool , good crowd in by the time music starts. Lots of young people enjoying the Singapore lifestyle. Anyway....cool bar, best setup stage I've ever had the luck to stand on.
Cover band did their thing for a bit & then introduced the " special guest from Australia with a slightly crazy instrument"
The art of performance has become a real focus , I've had good ones , not so good ones, The gig a few nights earlier was OK , but I made a few mistakes I dont normally do and felt rushed in various ways. For this one I made a point of really thinking it through, relaxing and just calming down as I started. This worked. Aint no Sunshine had an easy feel & I liked the vocal, the blues improv followed & then Layla which was Ok , but not my best ever. Phew! Done.
Had a great time talking with people afterwards & enjoyed a few beers. Small world, the guitarist had lived in Melbourne for two years and Studied at the University where I taught Audio tech, amazing. Then Bam! back to shipyard. We leave Singapore in the morning which is a pity , but I managed two little performances in 4 days. Pic below is stage before people turned up & me side-stage about to go on. Happy Days!
