Post Spare string in a pinch
Just finished my first complete string change (10-string Classic medium-gauge) with an SE purchased set, and I broke the #1 string (.009, rookie mistake). Can anyone recommend a good brand (music store available) replacement until I can get an SE string?

Thanks,
Mitch

not sure that's possible-regular electric guitar strings may be too short..

I found an old guitar string, and it is long enough (barely), but the sound is noticeably inferior. I was hoping someone could point me toward a better brand.

i had that happen as well. Luckily I had my DMR string set kicking around so the melody side was the same as the classic set I was using. I guess order two sets and then you have an emergency set.

Order a new set for your next string change and let SE know what happened. They may throw in the extra string for free or you may have to buy the extra string...

Either way I think it's best to get them from SE.

Yep. SE strings are the way to go. Of course, I am still on my first set of strings on both Sticks. I may have to start abusing them more I think!

OK guys. I know SE is the way to go, and I WILL get SE strings as soon as I can. That was my starting point for this thread. However, even with the risk of treason, does anyone have an opinion on a good commercial brand, IN A PINCH?

I found that Ernie Ball plain strings are long enough for the shorter lengths - probably not once you start hitting the fourth and fifth string. I think just regular plain .009 string. They are like a dollar each so buy a few just in case.

Plain nickel coated strings are all the same except for length.

Cheers

How long did you leave it before you changed your strings? Just interested as waiting for my Stick to arrive, as it's a refurb from SE it was recommended to have light gauge.
