Why do you want to submix the Stick's signal, just to limit the number of channels it occupies in the interface Yes, that's one of the reasons, all the channels are already filled up, but I could slave another interface to it if really needed. However, I have a whole series of floor pedals that I would like to use also, and my guitar and harpejji are already going through it by using a switch pedal. If I submix the Railboard into a mono signal first, I can just have it go through the whole existing signal chain. In terms of AU effects (amp sim, time effects, ...), I'm switching those out for each song based on program change messages that are sent by another foot pedal. When switching to the stick, I would simply have to change to the right program and it will set up everything automatically with a single press (the analog switcher is also MIDI capable). That eventide pedal looks pretty cool, and might do the job for you..., So is you plan to have some effects only on one side of The Stick, and not the whole instrument prior to going to the switching device?

Something that I was looking into is the Keith McMillen K-Mix. https://www.keithmcmillen.com/products/k-mix/ It's a small, standalone mixer, and Interface and Midi Controller. I've been thinking about getting it for myself but I just don't have any $$ to spend at this time...

Hello, I'd like to chime in.. So can the Eventide Mixing link be used with railboard so that you use melody-side XLR into MIC/LINE IN and bass side (XLR-to)TRS into instr-input and can you use the fx loop to affect melody side only? (possibly then bass-side effects between stick and eventide?) -And melody side XLR with phantom would power both sides ?Would be cool I got too confused with the options so I thought this is the fastest place to get answer.. Thx in advance!

Thx in advance! That's exactly how I'm thinking of using it. At the first look it seems indeed that this scenario is possible, but I'll be studying the manual in deeper detail a bit later today.

Had a closer look, you can't use the instrument input if you want to separate the signals for the FX loop since it's summed with the mic signal before routing to the FX send.
However the FX return signal seems to be at instrument level, so that could be used for the bass signal and then with a custom cable use the AUX TRRS connection to plug the effects into the loop.
The downsides I can see is that the impedance of the FX return input is lower, but I don't think this should be a problem. There is also no separate gain though, and that could be a deal breaker I think.

The Helix IS nice, It has some great routing capabilities. So too does the Axe-FX by Fractal Audio Systems...

Yes, that is my plan. Sadly it seems the Eventide pedal is just not cutting it :-/

It sounded ok, but not great to my ears. I felt that the distortions were very edgy and digital sounding, and the amp sims lacked a bit of mojo also. I'm using Scuffham S-Gear and I have yet to find an amp sim that sound as much alive as that one. That being said, the hardware and the convenience of the Helix are pretty amazing.

Thanks! I think something custom is maybe going to be the best route indeed.
