I found this rather amusing in a wasn't-so-funny-at-the-time sort of way.

For the past few days I've been trying to find out why my stick (and guitar) sounded odd, especially when playing higher pitched notes. It sounded like there was a ringing within the pitch.

After playing through multiple amps, my PA, bringing my acoustic down (which didn't have the problem upstairs and did have it downstairs), I finally figured out that it was my relatively-new ceiling fan causing the problem. I assume the sound waves were simply bouncing off the blades to creating the ringing sound within the pitch.

Funny what can effect sound.

Yeah been there done that. It's called the doppler effect. A Leslie organ speaker works like that with the horns and woofer spinning around slinging the sound all over the room. I've had to play on many stages in beach clubs where there were 3 or 4 ceiling fans right over the stage. That makes for a miserable 4 or 5 sets where nothing sounds quite in tune. Add a bunch of neon beer signs on the back wall spewing RF hum into every electric device on stage and it's definitely Miller time.

I have experienced this as well. Michael, your post cracked me up as we have all had THAT gig with the neon signs. Miller time, lol! :D

Snoitan, if only you could attach a variable potentiometer to that ceiling fan,......you could bypass buying a Leslie altogether.....
Cheers,

Sometimes that fan is warning you - didn't realize once I had something too close to the back of one of my PA speakers and the fan kicked on. MFG says to keep things a certain distance away. Was odd having one fan going an not the other, at first I thought I was picking up some interference or a bad connection somewhere.
