I've finally ordered a set of SE strings for #404.
I'm trying to compare them to Newtones,
as that's all I've ever played.

The new SE strings arrived yesterday. My first set of actual SE strings.
I tried them out, but prefer my Newtones. So, back in the box they went. :(

My only issue with the Newtones is the lowest bass string.
Oddly enough, the lowest SE bass string sounded worse. :?

I'm going to try a different amp next. I'm seeking a certain sound. 8-)
When I get it all figured out, I'll post a video to show the difference.
I don't care who makes the strings, it's all about finding that tone.

I used to think that-that "tone" was in the strings too. Then I thought it was in the amp.
Now I am convinced that it is in the fingers. :geek:

It's odd, like trying to find the person inside the body :?.

Hey, If you keep looking for "that tone" so will I, and we can share what we come up with ;).

BTW I have Stick # 004. I wonder if that is 400 Sticks difference?

Maybe the tone is in 'The Stick'.

Hey man whatever works I've had sets from S.E. where one string sounds "bad" right out of the box. Then it "goes away". (Then it comes back when it's time to get new strings. That's when EVERYTHING sounds "bad".)

I am not sure what you mean Werk but I am all for experimentation. The tone question
is an elusive one imo, not the question but the sound :?. I would be interested to
hear a "tone" comparison, amp strings or other...
