Post subject:  Stick Amplification in a larger Scale

Hi
A Question i was asked from the technician before my last show:
How do you connect the stick to the PA?
1.) direct out from the Effectboard?
2.) direct Out from the Amp?
3.) Microphone in front of the enclosure (like guitar)?

Any recommendations?
I know every way is possible and works, but i donĀ“t have the experience with a stick in this context.
Thanks
Gerald

Mic'd amps will always sound better IMO than DI from an amp, especially if you're using tube amps.

DI works if you have a good pre-amp or amp modeler like Axe FX or some good Sans-Amps, but the drawback is that you lose a lot of the low end to the fact that most monitors just aren't built to handle the super low frequencies a bass amp provides. Also, if you have a bad sound guy, you might not be able to rely on a good monitor mix at all.

Just my opinion.

My PODX3 LIVE has XLR-out not effected by my live outs which go directly to my powered loudspeakers so I can always hear onstage.
