Need New Headphones
Hi, all.
My old AKG K 240 headphones are in serious need of replacement. What's everyones' favorite for Stick? I practice with headphones lots when the kids finally go to sleep. I'm looking at the Sony MDR-7506, how's that as an example? That's the price range, too. I saving the serious money for my new Stick, so reasonable cost here is important.
Thanks,
-Eric

Re: Need New Headphones
Just talked about the SAME models on the POD X3 post...I like the MDR-7506 so far (2 days) they are very comfortable, and sound similar to the K-240s (minus the bass distortion). Yeah, I think I'm keeping 'em. My keyboard buddy recommended Sonys- he has the higher priced model. Don't know what the differences are, except $100.00.

Re: Need New Headphones
I have the Sony MDR 7506 headphones and they sound great while recording with the Zoom F6 Field recorder. https://zoomcorp.com/en/ca/handheld-vid ... orders/f6/For playing music nothing beats Westone IEMs. https://westoneaudio.com/Even the entry level ones are better than any headphones out there. My first Westone IEM was the UM1 Team Edition Corsa model. They no longer make these, so I ordered the Westone Pro X10. https://westoneaudio.com/wp-content/upl ... Sheets.pdfOf course, if you want better quality than the entry level, the price goes up accordingly. EricTheGray wrote: Hi, all.

Re: Need New Headphones
I've been using a pair of the 7506's for a good 20 years and still love them. At one point, the ear pieces started to disintegrate and I started researching new headphones. Everything I read kept leading me back to those so I opted to keep them and found replacement ear pieces. If it ain't broke

Re: Need New Headphones
The 7506 is a great headset for recording everyday audio, but not for musical instruments. The tonal detail is just not there, especially when using the Kemper Stage and Helix Floor. I haven't found anything that beats the Westone product line. I've modified my 7506 headset, by removing the ridiculously long coiled cord. I've installed a 1/8" TRS headphone jack into the headset. I use a 3ft Ugreen flat audio cord to attach the headset to the Zoom F6 field recorder. It's a great setup. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00LM0U8MW/The modified 7506 is a nice compact headset that fits in the small black pouch that came with it. Perfect for moving from location to location with the Zoom F6 field recorder.

Re: Need New Headphones
UPDATE: I received my new Westone PRO X10 IEMs today and I hate them. They were made in Vietnam and are nowhere near the sound quality of the UM1 Team Edition Corsa ones that I bought years ago. The older ones were made in Colorado and they are absolutely outstanding.
I'm disappointed with my new ones that cost $250 CAD. The ones back in 2014 cost $125 CAD. I've had good luck with Sony IEMs but I hate the way that they fit my ear. Either way, a lesson learned and hard earned money wasted... I won't be recommending Westone products in the future.

Re: Need New Headphones
I bought my first pair of Sony MDR 7506's in '11 for $99. I tried them w/ my Stick recorded on a ZOOM H2 thru a PODX3 and also listened to program music. I like the sound of my Stick thru them. I bought my 2nd pair last year when I broke the jack and was too lazy too drive to the electronics shop. $99. I'm glad I found them and I'm glad they still make them.
