Post Railboard preamp
Well, now my right foot is acting up in addition to my left elbow

I guess it gives me time to get things sorted on a technical side.

I'd still like to find a preamp that

* could be run passive or active for the R-block
*2 channel

* has a summed "tuner" output (I actually have a sustainiac Model C and it actually seems to work quite well on stick - It's not integrated with my playing as I still have no playing to speak of, but it's an interesting exploration in actively manipulating system resonance and something I'd like to explore during non-practice time)
--note, I suppose I could passively sum a set of individual (active) secondary outputs. that signal isn't going to be heard anyway

*cup holder (there was a recent post on hydration)

*covered in red velvet

* is attached to a speaker under gene's pillow that plays a loop saying "bring back FHF" while he sleeps

(I do have some R-block questions...is the active part of the R-block a preamp post-pickups or is there some form of coil tap or some such allowing the pickups themselves to be run at a lower impedance and then preamped?)

thanks - I looked into that (Rick at presonus actually did the sound for my wedding years ago)

but I'm not sure of the topology of the output - I'd have to get them both the TS unbal
but it's something I could probably do (though I might have to put together a breakout box)

I lean towards the Stepabout 2 or the sp2. The SP2 will require a TRS in and does not support a tuner out.

No velvet, etc. FHF is going to come back in a new form, just more organized lol. Thanks for the good word :D

The StepAbout and SP2 are great preamps (I have both) but neither give you the phantom power needed to activate the Railboard's Active mode

sadly, that takes the unit out on both parameters (no phantom power for active mode and no summed output? - I thught it had a summed out)

if possible , could you post a short youtube video of the sustainiac in use with the stick? It does'nt need to be a song or anything, just a demo using various strings. I think people would be curious to see how it works/sounds

Post Re: Railboard preamp
hey!
OK, Ill try to get something up - my dirty little secret is I am a bit of a Luddite when it comes to media

my laptop (toughbook31) doesn't even have a camera (not unusual for old military gear for security reasons)

I think I posted a grand total of 3 FB vids...underwater

so I'll see what I can do I can only practice with one hand right now anyway (no off color jokes plz, my mind already took care of all those as I was writing it)

One thing I'm looking forward to expriementing on is -- the model C (now there are simple ways of doing this anyway) included an FX loop for the driver.
The idea being you can alter the drive signal (wah/EQ, volume etc) to change what's actually being fed
sort of like the modes on an ebow of the electromagnetic feedbacker pickups - but with more variability
Manic used to suggest trying a flanger
