Normally, I plug my Stick into a smaller 2 input amp, then run the out to a larger amp. However, I'm flying to Spain in February and do not want to bring 2 amps. I've seen people using the DODVAC240 Mixer ( http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ ... sku=150102) and I'm wondering if it is a good alternative? I have a 6 string bass and Stick that I'll be running through it. I want to make sure there's no tone suck.

The DODVAC240 Mixer will suck your tone.

I run a small Mackie DFX 6 channel mixer for my Stick and basses. They advertise it as a 6 channel board, it's really mono 4 channels or two mono channels and two stereo channels. BUTTTTTTTTT it's fairly inexpensive, has onboard effects (reverb, delays, phase, etc>) and two effects loops. I'd take this over any mixer peddle because it's an honest to god mixing board for about the same cost as a decent peddle.

About your PS ... I find that there are some people who are loyal to Stickwire that I don't see post on Stickist. Don Schiff is one that comes to mind. I kind of see your point about both forums since I'm a member of both myself however when you consider how many bass, guitar, keyboard, motorcycle, etc. forums there are my thoughts are the more Stick forums the better. We gotta spread the good word brother!

I agree that the DOD passive mixer will suck your tone. (and make your tone suck) Not sure if it's because it's a low impedance mixer or the way it mixes the signals or what(?) but I have one and it's not suitable for anything other than practicing (as far as use with the Stick at least).

Note that the Mackie DFX6 (and most if not all other little mixers that appear to be a great solution to this problem) have low impedance inputs (the Mackie is listed at >10K Ohms) and will suck your tone as well.

The good news is that the BOSS LS-2 has high impedance inputs cuz it's made for a guitar. I know that around these parts 3M Ohms input impedance or more is recommended. The LS-2 is rated at 1M Ohms which, while not living up to the gold standard, is pretty close and a lot better than ">10K Ohms".

There may be other solutions out there, however, I aint seen 'em. I'd say you can't go wrong with the LS-2. Plus it can be used for a bunch of other useful signal routing.

One of the circuits that I intend to try out is this one which just actively combines inputs to a single output. It looks interesting to me just for those occasions where I need to have my Stick plugged into one input.

I won't disagree with Rob in regard to his feeling on sound boards, I'm sure he knows what he's talking about. However I have to say I'm very happy running my Stickup into the Mackie. I can't sense any loss in fidelity. Sounds great to me!! Plus nice EQ and effects. I'm VERY happy with it and highly recommend it.
