Re: Chairs/stools/seats for playing
I use an armless drafting stool. Raises very high if you want it. The seat spins, tilts, raises and lowers...has a circular foot rest. Good for playing Stick and a variety of instruments.

yes but keep in mind that guitar rest should be kind of modified to hold the stick and also this one doesn't have adjustable leg rest

Re: Chairs/stools/seats for playing
If you're using a lap bar of some kind, it's good to have a chair that will make your thighs parallel to the floor so the instrument will be in balance. If you're using a loose belt and resting the belthook on the front of the chair, then a chair with a straight front is good.
The worst way to play sitting is to have the instrument pulled up tight against your body.
Also, no arms on the chair!

Re: Chairs/stools/seats for playing
Since I have a drum kit, I find that the drum throne is the most comfortable chair I have for playing anything for an extended period. The one I have (a Roc & Soc) also has an optional back rest. I find that I tend to "hunch" when playing anything - guitar, drums, bass - and putting this back rest on so it pokes me right in the lumbar keeps me sitting upright. Before using this, I would start to get pain in the middle of my pack after about 15 or 20 minutes. I even drag it over to the keyboard when I'm working there. I have no idea whether I'll have this same posture problem when the Stick arrives, but fully expect to continue to use the throne, as it's easy on the ol' bum... Downside is that it isn't portable. It's even a pain to move it around in the music room!

Re: Chairs/stools/seats for playing
I'm pretty sure this is the one I have/use: https://www.samash.com/drums-percussion ... bbtchrbc-pIt also doubles - actually - it's main purpose and reason for buying was because I have a reflector dobsen [??] telescope and I needed something that was comfortable since I am a big and tall guy and also had a real good range in height adjustment since the telescope eye piece is mounted fairly high up on the tube [either 8 or 10in, I forget...] but seriously yes it's expensive but I am at a point in my life where comfort and functionality is paramount. If it's not the one I have, I'll update/edit this post later.

Re: Chairs/stools/seats for playing
I've removed the belt hook from both my Stick and Railboard. They get in the way while I lay down on my back to play. I find it very relaxing to play like this.

This is the one I use. If anyone is going to buy a drum throne, I highly recommend the "hydraulic" models - I wish I had spent the few extra bucks! https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MSOK--roc-n-soc-manual-spindle-drum-throne-original-saddle-black
