The individual 'guitar GK3' pickup coils are close to the 'Stick GK3' coil size.
Alain sold me his 'Stick GK3', so I will know for sure very soon.

I have three 'guitar GK3' pickups, so I sacrificed one as an experiment
quite some time ago. Alain measured his 'Stick GK3' in millimeters.
I measured mine in tenths of an inch. 1/10" = 2.54mm

If we look at the photo of the 'guitar GK3' it's approximately 2.5 tenths.
If we look at the photo of the 'Stick GK3' it's approximately 6mm.
2.54 X 2.5 = 6.35mm (it's pretty darned close)
The spacing between the coils is definitely different.

Do you yet have confirmation that the Stick GK3 has had the radius removed too?

In some of my wilder imaginings I've pondered on the idea of a Fishman TriplePlay mounted on a 'flying bridge' over the strings (as were the pickups on Emmett's original Stick). With the pickup over the strings it could perhaps be angled to accommodate the reduced string spacing. The plate of the 'flying bridge' might be clear perspex for aesthetics & to aid fine tuning of the position?

Just a thought. Will probably never happen...

I use Roxsyn, an iOS app from Yonac. I think it tracks slightly better than MIDI guitar 2 and it can be edited like a standard subtractive synth. The synth is triggered by audio - no MIDI pickup needed.

That's interesting. Can it be run as an AUV3 plugin in a DAW or AUM? Doesn't make any mention of that on their site that I can find.

FWIW I have Yonac's Trooper synth which (while I'm still just a raw beginner at running synths) is my favorite synth.

The Stick GK3 is definitely flat. The guitar GK3 comes in a curved housing.

I have the Fishman TriplePlay on my electric/acoustic guitar. It is curved as well as having the wrong coil spacing.

Roxsyn is listed with all the other AU plugins when added in AUM. I also like their Hammond plugin.

Thanks. Yeah, I checked the description on the app store. Decided to give it a try. Not thrilled with a lot of the presets, but when starting from scratch this is interesting. The relationship between the filters, the VCA and the modulation matrix seems unique. Will take some time to sort that out, but i think this has some potential. I think the basic idea is similar to the Boss SY-300(?) I think - substituting the instrument's signal for oscillators.

The GK3 and GR-55 can be used to imitate other instruments such as piano, cello, drum kits and cinematic effects. The Roxsyn doesn't appear to be able to do that? I have a large collection of virtual instruments that I have been playing with the PRS Custom 24 with GK3 pickup and the Roli Seaboard Rise 49.

The Roli Seaboard is a very powerful MIDI device.
It can literally mimic any instrument, including an entire orchestra.

As with a lot of guitar oriented products, I had to spend a fair amount of time tweaking the presets to get them to work well on the Stick - especially the gain and trigger parameters. I think you are right - the idea is similar to Boss SY pedals. I use the iPad as part of an effects loop out of a Helix Stomp and it works nicely in AUM and Loop Pro.

Agreed - the Roland system (and MIDI Guitar 2) generate MIDI which can be used to trigger any MIDI device/instrument. However, for synth only, Roxsyn has the advantage of not needing a pickup or a converter from their 13 pin system. I use Roxsyn to augment the melody side of the Stick rather than to imitate other instruments. I think the Roland system is the way to go if that is the goal.
