Stick rest
I had one of these D'Addario guitar dock rests that is designed to clamp to the edge of a table, or something vertical like the side of a bookcase. After repairing a Stick that had apparently been knocked over, punching the volume controls into the pickup housing, I kept getting the heebie-jeebies when resting my Stick on the edge of the desk, but this obviously wouldn't help. Attachment: Guitar Dock Support.png So...I took a saw to it to remove the "hook", then fashioned a replacement from some 3/4" plywood and a bit of suede and fastened it with some epoxy. Voila... Attachment: Cobbled Stick Rest.JPG If anyone wants to do the same, that guitar rest is available at Sweetwater (and others I'm sure) for $18

Re: Stick rest
Hi
I originally used Dave Brosky's lap rest for this purpose...

Re: Stick rest
I've been unsatisfied with somewhat squirrely modified guitar stands or anything else on the market that I could trust to be stable and stout enough. Because of the lack of a body, a Stick doesn't have the same low center of gravity that a guitar or bass has and its uniform linear weight distribution gives it tippy tendencies in the vertical position. So I devised my own stand and built it out of 6061-T6 aluminum. The points of contact are padded with neoprene rubber.

I’m extremely cramped in my music room, so didn’t want yet another thing on the floor, hence the wall rack I posted earlier. The rest above is just to allow me to set the Stick down to let the dog out/in, make a pit stop etc. without having to worry about it falling over. If those “feet” folded also, that stand would be extremely compact for carrying to a gig or travel.

stickyfingers wrote: Resting by the firewood That’s a clever design. Is the belt hook engaged with those crossbars?

Re: Stick rest

Captain Strings, that's a really neat design.
