Post Camping
Hello, hello all,

I'm going camping,. I want to bring my Stick.

I don't want to run my generator to power an amp, no hookup.

I have a little Roland micro cube that runs on batteries but it does not sound well.
I am guessing Bass response needs power. Battery rig with converter from 12vdc to 120vac bring a 110vac amp?

So the question is, what is a good boondocking amp that has good bass response?

I guess it's a busking question, if you don't have power. What do you do?

Thanks I love this site.

Hi,

Best Andi

I have a Roland Bass Micro Cube that is battery powered. It doesn't sound that bad. I'm not sure if these are still being made, but you could probably pick one up cheap used. I think it was less than $200 new.

I you check out acoustic guitar forums, you will find a lot of info on this subject.

Bose S1
Elite Acoustics - they have the loudest
JBL EON lowest bass response around 35-37 hz

I have the Bose S1 which has really good bass for just a 6" speaker - however outdoors you need two of them, or create a mini "band shell" in order to not loose any sound. Someone on the Acoustic Guitar forum bought two Base S1's and an Elite Acoustic D6-58 120W, and did a video demonstration showing the Elite acoustic was just as loud as 2 Bose S1's, but does not provide the spread the two Bose PA's provide. Drawback to the Elite acoustic is the $1200 price tag. They do sell some lower priced versions that are lower output.

Those three battery powered PA's will work with the Stick. The JBL I know little about, other than it requires a lot of EQ tweaking via their iPhone app to get it to sound good. Not many people have patience with it, but if you want bass, that's likely a good one.

Another is the Behringer PA that Andy Salvanos also uses.

Thanks michns
I'm looking hard at the jbl. I may try it. I really don't like the micro cube.

The acus needs a Makita battery, so nah.
I didn't want to spend a lot on something that I will only use a few times a year. So elite is out and bose is great but meh.
I don't need loud, Just clean.

The jbl has 4 channels bose only 2. I can do 2 stick inputs and a guitar so ,nice, to amp up my sister's guitar.

I'm hoping the jbl will do the trick.
Thanks again.

If that works for you, I hear the battery can last 12 hours, and is very easy to swap out compared to other systems. So for an extended camping trip, buy extra batteries for convenience.

I can recharge the batteries. No worries there.
My eon one is coming today, so I will have fun tweaking it in. I'm hoping for the best. RoCknRoLl.
