Post "official" Amp
I Never recall Emmett mentioned anything about recommended amplification..

so what's your thought about it ?
I guess the straight answer would be - 1 guitar amp for melody and 1 bass amp for bass side (which is quite an issue carrying around)

come to think of it bass side is not really "Bass" -
first 2 bass strings=of course it's bass
3rd string - maybe - depending on tuning (in my RMR tuning it's actually guitar low E)
strings 4+5 (+6) - absolutely not bass.

so again what do you think would be ideal ?

- FRFR amp (keyboard amp?!) with 2 separate inputs
- Amp with many inputs that supposed to hold bass+guitar , like the Roland street cube EX
- 1 Bass Amp
- 1 Bass amp+1 guitar amp (again quite an issue carrying 2 amps)

I don’t recall all of the details about the “Stick Amp”. Goes back to 2010 or earlier, Bob had one of the prototypes I believe, shown in this pic when I first met him in Australia in 2010:

Lots of opinions on what works best, the best amps I’ve used has been the 180W Fishman Loudbox Perfomer that I sold to Stephen Sink and the current Electrovoice EV50 that I have now.
I also is a Bose S1.

Post Re: "official" Amp
If I remember correctly, the "stickamp" was developed by Italian company SR Technology, with some involvement from Virna Splendore (and maybe Greg?).

There are some amps right now which are quite close to this kind of amp (Accus, Schertler). I too have a Jam 400 from SR Technology, which is a fantastic unit, very loud, with a fantastic bass end, but it's heavy and I don't like so much how high notes are treated. I still use it for outdoor or big gigs, with a Roland JC-40 for the melody side. This amp has a fantastic tone, can handle distortion pedals like a champ, has a lot of dynamic response, but for the melody side only. In my system (close to the Stepabot routing system), it's not so good when you send bass strings to the guitar amp and vice-versa. Another drawback is the weight of all of those toys, making moves quite difficult if you are in town and want to favour public transports.

In this purpose and for small gigs, I recently purchased a small and very lightweight FRFR amp, a Headrush 108. Relatively powerful, two inputs with independent levels (no controls), I like it (well don't expect a clear bass response when pushed too loud though) but I use it with my effects rig which includes a Neunaber Iconoclast speaker emulator which helps a lot to my ears. At least it sounds far less sterile than all the PA system I tried so far (HK Audio, Bose, etc).

But you are right, it's like a neverending search. I would like to have a couple of identical amps to benefit the stereo image, that could handle bass strings as well as melody strings.

Ye I remember that - even met Virna on the SR booth back then

so for a short while it was "kind of" , "official stick amp"

Other alternatives for consideration might include multi-input signal processors with amp emulations?

The Line6 Helix (Floor, Litre or Stomp), and the MOD DuoX cometo mind as examples, but there are others too.

I remember that amp of Bob's. He had it at the Vancouver (Gabriola Is) seminar in 2011. It is what inspired me to downsize from my massive SWR Super Redhead bass rig w/ Rane SP 13 preamp to the Fishman Loudbox Artist. I highly recommend the Fishman for both sound quality and portability.

SR, thanks Bruno, I didn’t remember the name. I believe Emmett had a 2x8 model in 2006:

https://sb.smugmug.com/Music/Stick-Festival/i-wHQdjxm/A

If you use a lot of heavy OD or distortion, and acoustic guitar amp is typically not voiced for that and may create some odd results in the higher registers. That’s why I added a Line6 Powercab Plus to my collection. I typically use it for guitar but it will work for the Stick, but it’s not optimal for the.bass side of the Stick.

Options are endless. I play Bass also so I cover a lot of ground in amp investment. I knew Guitar players years ago who loved playing through Fender Bass Amps (Bassman). I only have 1 guitar amp I use for melody side, it’s a Quilter Pro Block 200 and Bass Block 800 on bass side. I use this combination when I don’t use my effects unit. Quilter gear is very lightweight. I use EA when going through my effects unit. I really like the light weight Solid state bass amps. I have no desire going through a guitar amp via Stick. IMO.

Sadly Euphonic Audio closed their doors after 40 years last December.

I think it very much depends on what sound you're after.

I'm very happy with a bass amp for the "bass"-side and a guitar amp for the "treble".

For me the bass amp works well in our rock band setting. I use an EQ setting with high and low frequencies boosted and scooped mids. I also use a little multiband compression (from an EBS bass compressor). That way the higher bass strings come through very nicely (and I also like the overall sound).

I also like to use different effects for the two sides, so that they sound like two distinct instruments. You could say that I often use the treble side like a keyboard pad, it sometimes even sounds like a synth due to the effects I'm using.

If you're after a more unified sound, I definitely would not recommend my setup. :-)
