Post Re: Portable recording studio for Stick.
Initially, I was trying to get my Steinberg UR44 audio interface to work with the Steinberg Cubasis DAW on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ but it didn't work because the UR44 required a DspMixFX app that was only available on Apple products and was not an option for Android products.

So, I looked around the house for other devices that could be used as audio interfaces and found a Zoom R8 mixer that worked and the Zoom H4N handy recorder. The H4N was more compact and offered some internal effects that were worthwhile trying out.

I soon discovered that the H4N internal effects only worked in 44.1 kHz, so another problem developed and it wasn't an issue with the Cubasis DAW, it was a problem with the tablet's USB driver. I read the following article online and this explained how to fix the issue. However, the new proprietary USB driver only works with their DAW.

So, for $20 CAD, I now have a new DAW that works properly with the H4N at 44.1 kHz.

I've since discovered in this article that my Steinberg UR44 will also work with the new DAW and the UR44 has six inputs and much better audio sampling capability. The UR44 is powered by 12 vdc, so it can be directly connected to the battery in a vehicle. So, I've come full circle and have begun experimenting with the UR44 as my audio interface. The H4N is still an option as it fits in my pocket, but I like the UR44 audio quality better.

Next up, I will start research what effects that can be used with the UR44 setup.

Post Re: Portable recording studio for Stick.
I've emailed Steinberg in Germany to let them know that they have a competitor that has solved the USB audio driver issue with Samsung Android Tablets. If Steinberg wants to remain competitive in the Digital Audio Workstation market, they might develop their own USB audio driver, so that their software works with Android tablets. It seems pointless to create a decent Android DAW that doesn't support most hardware including their own hardware. I've read enough reviews to see that I'm not the only person who is having issues.

The problem is that big companies lose touch with their customers and the end result is that both the company and consumer lose out in the end. If the consumer is not happy, he or she will go elsewhere to find better products. This is exactly how Reaper got their start and they are my favorite DAW for desktop computers.
