I saw this on ebay, and just HAD to have it! Anyone know when this was made? I am thinking early '90s because of the Adj. bridge and truss. I have never seen a Zebrawood stick for sale, and it was an almost instant decision when I saw this one. Would it be worth sending this to SE for a "once over" ?

Wow. I own a zebrawood Grand and this is the first time I've seen another zebra besides mine. Drop dead gorgeous! nothing can compete with the grain of the zebrawood. What a great find!

If the Stick plays well and feels good when you get it, it might not need any work done, or maybe just minor tweaks that you can do yourself. I wasn't quite so lucky with my zebra Grand. There were frets that had risen up and other issues that could only be remedied by Emmett. I sent it in for an overhaul and it came back looking, playing, feeling, and even smelling like a Stick that was made that very day.

That was a great deal Jim :) The Stick or one like it if my memory serves me made an appearance last year at the Santa Cruz Stick seminar. I had never seen a Zebra wood Stick
and the appearance in real life is stunning.

Thanks all. I actually think the seller had the serial # listed wrong. It looks to me like #776. Ben at SE said the #176 was made in Tarara wood in 1990. The features this one has makes this fall around the 1993-1995 era. ???? according to the Stick timeline. The Zebra grain makes it hard to read. Also noticed the outer strings are strung wrong. no biggie.

well, I am sending it to Emmett to give it a once over. The Stickup has a noisy bass volume knob, and I am changing the tuning to MR. I am having a little trouble with the two high melody strings "fretting out". I am tired of tweaking the truss and bridge screws with no luck, so I am sending the stick in to the master. Fretwork ? May need a couple minor things done, like a new damper and twist lock for the strap, but I feel much better knowing that Emmett and Grace will be giving it the once over.

Jim,

My old zebrawood had a lot of fretting-out issues when I got it, as well. I guess some frets had shifted around and needed re-crowning. I sent it to Emmett and he went over every inch of it; restoring it to the optimal state it's still in right now. He even did things that I didn't expect, a bunch of nice little surprises like replacing the old dot inlays and re-beveling the rear of the instrument for a sleeker profile. He topped it off with a brand new finish that smelled intoxicating when I opened the case :D You will be very happy when yours comes back!
