Anyone use Garageband to record/play through?
Anyone use Garageband to record/play through?
I’m looking for an inexpensive interface that will allow me to record two channels at the same time into Garageband - obviously useful for the stick!
I have been using a Lexicon Alpha for a while for recording other instruments, but although it has a couple of inputs, I couldn’t get Garageband to see them both at the same time (Garageband WILL work using two at the same time though). As it has now died I am looking to replace it with something more useful. Anyone got any ideas or experience of a useful interface?

The Apogee Duet is very cool and easy to use, I did my solo cd with it and Garageband. Easiest recording project ever.

I use a Presonus Audiobox USB. It has two inputs on the front, midi on the back and a headphone jack. I have been very pleased with it. Took a while for me to get it working with GB but with some help from people here I was soon up and running. The thing I was not doing was enabling both tracks for recording. You click on the little red light on the track record button ...? first button on the track header where you can mute, solo, lock etc. There are so many boxes of tricks out there I was bamboozled as to which to get. I also looked at the Yamaha Audiogram 6 - a USB mixer. I got the Audiobox cheap on the bay

I used Garage Band ALOT! You will of course have to buy an interface which can range in price from $100-$1,000. I personally got a TASCAM US-122L which was a lil over $100. It doesn't produce the best quality, but it works just fine for recording BOTH sides of the stick.

PreSonus Firebox to Garageband all the time - I'm really happy with it and have been for about 5 years now!

I use a FireWire Solo (M-Audio). It's very flexible for a variety of inputs. Sean Stirling

I actually performed yesterday with a single stereo cable with a 1/4-->1/8 converter directly in to the MacBook input jack, then a 1/8 ipod cable into a mixer. Alittle compression and reverb on 2 mono tracks in Garageband and its actually one of my favorite live sounds to use, and so easy...

Thanks all, some useful suggestions there! I always used to do that but the so called 'genius bar' buggered my input and I always get interference through it now
