Roland GK pickups
I'm in the process of planning my future equip' rack and routing cables.
Is it necessary on the stick midi pickup to route the Stick's normal (straight) sound from the stick pickup to the GK pickup?
Roland Manual sez: "This connection is necessary not only for playing the guitar’s normal (straight) sound as well as the guitar’s straight sound mixed with the synthesizer sound, but also for connecting the guitar’s ground and the GK-3’s ground. Even if you are not going to use the guitar’s straight sound at all, always make this connection because of the noise reduction benefits it provides."
I would like to use my standard Stick stereo Y-cable into my preamp and just use the 13-pin GK pickup cable for midi....without using the pass-through capabilities of the GK. I'm planning on using a mixer for each output of bass, melody, and midi anyway, so why does it matter....unless it really is a problem.
Thanks for the guidance.
Cheers, dmm

Re: Roland GK pickups
No need to put the audio through the GK.
You can use your Y cable for audio and the 13 pin to whatever synth you are using.
You just need a way to amplify everything, at least 3 channels: Melody, Bass, Synth.
The audio through the 13 pin let a guitarist use one amp with one input.
