Re: Stick Cables
In searching for cables, I noticed that Dimarzio has a stereo cable. Has anyone tried theirs?

Re: Stick Cables
A local dealer that I purchased my AI CODA amp from is also a Dominator Cable dealer. The cables are "tuned" , have Neutrik mono plugs on them, I'm using these for my NS & bass; specifically they are the GT-4's made specifically for bass. They work really well with the high-end of the NS despite being a bass-specific cable.
The GT-4's I ordered arrived today, and I was asked to evaluate those against a new prototype cable Dominator had sent him. The protoype cable produced a significant increase in volume, sounded great in the high end, but the bass was way too "boomy" sounding. I was shocked at the amount of thick bass tones coming out of my NS, had to turn the bass controls down a bit for clarity. Not something I want, but for someone wanting a thicker bass tone with less treble would probably love it.
I'm going to measure up my current Y-Chord, and have him quote getting me a custom GT-4 Y-chord for my Grand Stick. I'm also going to compare Mogami cables I have to the Dominators, which have the same Neutrik ends. So far I like the Dominators better than the Monster's.

Re: Stick Cables
Just wanted to let everyone know that the variety of CBI cables has just increased a SE. You can now get their excellent Y cables in three lengths, 10, 15 and 20 foot, with optional angle plug now back in stock on the 15 footers. See: http://www.stick.com/accessories/cables/ for more info.

I looked through my assortment of cables, I do have a couple mono Mogami cables, not the same ID mentioned, but has the same Neutrik plugs on each end as the Dominators I mentioned. I also have some Studiolink Monster cables that are also "directional", as well as some regular instrument cables. The Mogami's were pretty much the same tone as the Dominators, but very slightly lower in volume. The Monsters were both lower in volume and the tone was different. I used my NS to do this, All were 10-15". I need to upgrade what I have for a Y-cable, I'll give that CBI a go.

QUICK THING ABOUT THE ANGLED CABLES!
I was using one for a while until it broke. If you have a MIDI pick up you WILL have to jam it in the jack because the large sized "head" of the cable will hit the MIDI housing. Great cable til it broke though. I'm using another one just with a straight jack.

Not sure if I'm picturing this right in my mind - do you mean the right angle plug housing hits the pickup mount on the edge of the Stick? (sort of a half-round plastic support that is screwed into the side of the Stick) I forgot that they had the over-sized shell on the right-angle plug. Dave

Dave Hi Dave, That's right, you can't use the angle plug cable if you have a GK pickup on your instrument. Otherwise, they make a great choice.

Re: Stick Cables
I have always thought that unless a cable was damaged it would be difficult to discern an audible difference. Essentially I thought it was hype that "oh these cables have a better signal to noise ratio or some nonsense " when in reality the stuff "sound" is moving so fast electrically and that frequency differences are so minute that you would haft to be the dog on the RCA record to notice. Tom Grisegrabber recommended the CBI's at the seminar and to my ear these cables make a noticeable difference. I have also had a set of Planet Waves which worked fine but had a tendency to slip a notch down into mono and over all seemed too bulky. ^j^ . ~
