My brothers and sisters, I am a proud papa once again. Chapman Stick Raiboard #R6453 is now in my hands.
And it's PERFECT.
All's well with it. The specs are all there, it's totally undamaged (there was even an adhesive foam protector stuck to the bottom of it, which is where the last one had been nicked), and the electronics have no issues (no strange sounds, pops, etc like last time). It sounds great! Also, it felt immediately comfortable in my hands.
At first pass, the truss didn't even seem to need much attention, although now that I'm "back at work" (my business is located at my home) and it settles further over the course of the day, I'm sure it'll need SOME kind of tweaking.
Here's a link to a quick series of photos I took:
http://lucbergeronkampk9.zenfolio.com/p849265570Black on black is a tough thing to shoot. I tried to get away with using no flash but that made for a couple of interesting phenomena. This black instrument likes to grab and play with available light. (You'll see shades of the room lights all over the Railboard these pictures.) The newer manufacturing, without the sandblasting, as we all know creates a series of horizontal lines all the way down the instrument. These little lines also like to play with whatever light is around. In short, although it's black, this Railboard can be a very subtle color chameleon. Neat.
Not all the pics bring out the gold in the linear fret markers. One close-up does; when I can figure out how to best bring it out in a whole-instrument shot, I'll post it.
Thanks for all your support during my wait!!!
