Ah, I checked the Simon drawing. The ratio is about 69.3% smaller than actual but the scale is correct, so if you have a printer with ledger paper, you can print this PDF at 144%. Then the template can be followed by a carpenter. Cheers!

I think so. Here are my measurements.

Measured....Notated.....Ratio
122............176..........144
96.............140...........146
72.............104...........144
31.............43.............139

An easy way to check is after printing, measure it.
If the numbers on the page match your ruler, it is correct.

I was thinking again. Due to geographical differences, your paper size may differ, which could change the scale. My paper is 8.5" x 11". If you are using A4 paper, that is 8.27" x 11.69". Still, the ruler will not lie.

Sorry to resurrect the thread but,

Would someone give me the dimensions of the template in centimeters?

With the paper difference and these ratio things i just read about, i just want to be sure I'm building this at the correct size.

Thanks,
Karim

Well, we use centimeters here in Portugal but I just printed the pdf and marked the wood with a pen. Worked just fine! Give it a go, you won't regret it. ;)

I see that lickmydoo apologized for resurrecting this thread. Being unfamiliar with this forum's culture I hope I'm not transgressing by doing the same thing. However!

After so much experimentation and purchasing all kinds of bibs and bobs to use as a lap stand, I must thank DBro for his marvelous simple solution to this problem and also for the fun I had watching the video

I made an experimental 'first try' using a scrap of finished wood I had around the house. Even though I have no coping saw, it came out great and as useful a lap stand as advertised. This means a lot to me as I'm still a nooob and am not used to this fret board. Fewer distractions means more ability to concentrate on learning this sublime instrument. I'm posting pics of my first attempt, and again THANK YOU for your help. It will make me a better player.

Cheers,
Harry
