Thanx guys. It's nice to know that something born out of my own obsessive compulsive disorder turned out to be so useful to others. I guess even a blind squirrel finds a few acorns......

When I first read this, I thought you wrote "unicorns" instead of "acorns." :)

After all the positive feedback, I'm interested in getting one of these for my Stick. I've trying a few different methods at home to play Stick in a seated position, none of which have worked very well thus far. I guess this has come along at the right time!

@TappistRT

The LapDawg is just about perfect for playing in a seated position IMHO. I have one installed on both of my Sticks as well as my Warr TGSS (with some help from Mike). Awesome product.

+1

Arrived & just tested.

Cool! Playing with no strap and belt gives a wonderful sense of freedom... :)

Bravo to Captain Strings!

So is it possible to move the pads?
I'll check tomorrow along with truss-rod wrench space...

Nice piece of hardware! :)

Yes the pads can be moved. With a little effort and care they can be slid back and forth and will remain where you put them. If anyone wants a longer pad or if anyone thinks the pads are too short, too long or whatever please shoot me a PM and lemme know. I thought the arm (not the pad) that rests on your left leg was about 1 inch too long but Emmett thinks it's just right so I went with that and figured better too long than too short. I'm always looking to tweak the design for the better and those are easy things to change. I also have experimented with a second larger rubber sleeve over the first one for more padding for guys with heavier Sticks or Warr guitars which are very heavy. There's a photo of that earlier in this thread somewhere. I welcome all feedback except on my microphone........As far as the 'Dawg getting in the way of the truss rod wrench - that can happen depending on which holes you mount the Lap Dawg on. Emmett and I are looking at the feasibility of a different shaped wrench to get around this potential issue. That's a definite maybe. Meanwhile if it is in the way the best bet is just pop the Lap Dawg off, make your truss rod adjustment and pop it back on. It's just 2 screws and once you put it on the first time you'll see how easy it is to pop it on and off. Anyhow you should rarely need to touch your truss rod. BTW a new production run of Lap Dawgs will be ready to ship right around Christmas give or take a couple days. If anyone wants to reserve one shoot me a PM.

I strongly disagree with the statement that "you should rarely need to touch your truss rod". This is the second time that the need for truss rod adjustments has been downplayed in this thread.

It depends a lot on where you live. If the temperature and humidity are petty steady, then you don't have to adjust it often. Where I live I the weather is contstantly changing, so I tend to tweak the truss on a daily basis to maintain the best action. But I totally agree with your sentiment, Russell. Easy access to the truss is important to me.

Emmett has done us all a big favor in making the truss easy to adjust.
His exposed rear truss is another great (and unique) design feature of The Stick.

Emmett's truss also works better than any other design for this purpose because it operates in a direct counterbalance to the string tension on the other side of the board, wheres conventional guitar trusses try to keep the neck straight from inside the structure.

Low tapping action makes tapping easier. The Stick is designed to help you keep it that way, no matter what the weather does.

Anyway, it sounds like its only a problem on certain belthook holes and not on all of them. congrats on bringing a great idea to fruition, Michael.

I guess I'm just used to Southern California. I suppose there are places where the temperature and humidity are not exactly the same 99% of the time....

I received my Lap Dawg this week (ordered from the online store with no issues or delays!) and installed it on my late-80"s polycarb (referbed by Emmett). Couldn't be happier! What a wonderfully conceived and engineered piece of equipment to appropriately grace a wonderfully conceived and engineered musical instrument :D
