QSC TouchMix 16
I was looking for a new mixing console for my gigs with Axel on drums and stumbled upon this great little unit. One of the things which made me take the plunge is the recording function.
I mean, 16 separate tracks plus main stereo mix on a tiny 500 GB SSD drive! This means we do now record every rehearsal session and every gig.
There's also a great flexibility with the auxilliary outputs, which lets me drive my sub only with the frequencies I choose. Then there are assignable DCA's which make it easier to keep the sub balanced with the other frequencies when you change the overall main volume.
Small footprint, very easy to use and yes, reliable!

Marty, there's an 8 channels version of the same desk. It's cheaper but has the same functions as the 16 channels model.

Re: QSC TouchMix 16
these units are really great! I am pondering one to go with my QSC K12's, so I can run Stick and Roland Hpd-20 Handsonic into the mix! yes!

Re: QSC TouchMix 16
I agree that these look very cool. However, I'm also a computer pro and there is a lot of functionality that comes from software in these things. That makes me want to wait and hear reports from people using them in live work for many months. And at $1,300USD for the 16 channel and $900USD for the 8, I would want to know how well these things hold up. My budget is so limited even the 8 would set me back a couple of years for gear.
I will pay attention to these, though. I have QSC K powered speakers and they are fabulous.

Re: QSC TouchMix 16
Operational considerations in a live setting would be:
How many steps will it take for me to:
A) get rid of that feedback B) stop that input clipping C) change my eq to compensate for the room D) add a little reverb
The more knobs and fewer menus the better.

Re: QSC TouchMix 16
Anyone knows anything about the converters in that thing? It´s not the cheapest digital mixer but lots of funktions and it seems like it´s easy to handle. Could be a great thing if the converters are decent.

The more knobs and fewer menus the better. Axel and I have used it in live situations and a good sound check usually avoids A) and eliminates B). The navigation between screens is fast on the QSC (thanks to dedicated knobs (you're right) and soft buttons). To be able to react super quickly to A) [after all, we sing and have more chances to experience feedback], I assign the big knob to the main output of my system. C) is a bit trickier. The main eq is split between 3 (three) screens (go figure). That's probably one of the few flaws on this unit. They should have implemented the same kind of interface they did for the channel eqs. But I have to say that in a pub situation, you worry more about beer being spilled on your gear than room eq (also set at sound check) D) Very easy
