Individual String Gauges
I'm looking for the individual gauges for the 10-string light, medium and heavy sets.

Re: Individual String Gauges
I swear, there was once as an article on this site about string gauges (and why normal strings do not work).

I've been up all night trying to find it, but no luck so far.

Re: Individual String Gauges
I know the gauges for a ten string set but I'm in Hong Kong. They're prolly medium gauges. Tell you later.

For several years now, all of our strings are nickel wound, and made by D'Addario, to our specifications for length and tonal resonpsiveness appropriate for the lower string tension optimal for tapping. Tapped strings vibrate differently than those typically seen on basses and guitars which have much higher tension. This is especially important in the low bass strings, which we have made to our specifications for clear pitch and tone.

Re: Individual String Gauges
I think that we are getting away from the initial question. It's not a question of the type of strings but the gauges in each set.
I typically create my own custom set of strings based on sound and feel. I use tension charts to calculate the overall stress on the instrument, while at the same time finding what works best for my personal playing style.

Re: Individual String Gauges
You must forgive us; when someone asks the question about the individual gauges, it usually means that they're thinking about putting their own sets together using conventional guitar and bass strings available at your local shop. If you haven't asked Stick Enterprises yet, I highly recommend that you do so.

I come from the same background with guitar strings, so I empathize with your curiosity. I plan to measure the (medium) string gauges after my Railboard arrives. Once I can spare the money, I will buy heavy and light sets solely to measure them. Folks can talk all day about how tapping is different and Stick strings are specially made, but those are not reasons for making it this difficult to quantify differences in string tension. That actually gets to why I ordered medium strings in the first place: string gauge changes will be more intuitive, a little bit higher or lower than what I first played.
