POD X3 Live...
finally got it! The manual is well written and the unit seems pretty intuitive, but man! It's like going into a BIG music store and trying every guitar amp, cabinet, bass amp/cab, effects unit, in any combination, on BOTH sides of the stick..."This will take awhile..." I've only started playing again seriously (learning the melody side) since Sept. after not picking it up since '88 (lotta dust), PLUS, my 12 string DBR will be finished any day. I also received "Stickology" and "Sticktionary" this past week. But, back to the X3-how 'bout getting a new thread going? Any insights, "profound revelations", etc.? I've been playing thru a mixer/headphones w/ minimal processing, which has been good 'cause it makes technique blaringly apparent, so now it's time to CUT LOOSE! WOOHOO!

Re: POD X3 Live...
Is it quite?? I have a line-6 FloorPod Plus for my melody strings. Sounds great however I found out last weekend on a gig that running through a Mackie sound board, my Ampeg SVTPRO5 head and a 4X10 plus horn cabinet you can hear a lot of hiss from the unit. (I tried all different hook up combinations ... definitely the floor pod causing the hiss) If the Pod X3 is real quite it may be my next purchase ... after the NS Stick i have on order is made, delivered and paid for that is!

Re: POD X3 Live...
Fortunately, my GAS has died down for one of these, but I have a feeling it's going to kick start again any day now...

Re: POD X3 Live...
Ray, it's quiet...real quite. You have input volume, tone volume,(the tones are the individule"patches"-like the melody and bass, to "match" their levels) and master volume, so if you keep the master as high as possible, which will be going into your mixer, or guitar amp,(or BOTH) you can keep it pretty under control. I'm running it into a mixer- into a BOOMBOX! And it sounds great! Of course, when you run overdriven amp models into old fuzz-box models that have been modified by the Line 6 engineers to go up to 13, you CAN start to get a little hairy! O.K., break over, back to the "Shoe".

Marty, ears bleeding I just reread the owners manual for the floorpod plus and it says to have the channel volume on the pod as loud as possible to reduce the sound to noise ratio so perhaps the channel volume on the patches I created are too soft allowing more noise? I'll have to experiment with it. Thanks for the feedbacK and sorry to "sidetrack" the thread.

Re: POD X3 Live...thread hijack warning...
Okay, I've got some GAS for this: http://www.digitech.com/products/GSP1101/Just when I think it's safe to go back to floor-based processors..., it's back to the rack! Anybody checked this thing out yet?

Anybody checked this thing out yet? I did not physically check one out, but dug deep in their website. The GNX4 has some great bass amps and cabs in it, but those appear to be missing from their "flagship" rack unit. I found that odd, the GNX4 did have some great capabilities with bass. I no longer have the GNX4, I anted up to the VG-99.

Re: POD X3 Live...
Update...since '83 I've wanted to get that "T.L." sound on my stick. But, in just the few hours I've spent w/ the X3, I now realize I have what I need to get MY sound. Beautiful, warm, pristine, amp modelings in this baby. I'm talking about ALL the amps. I'm glad I waited (I'd like a rackmount, though). A better sound DOES inspire!

Marty, Studio Shoe (Tap dancin') I saw Tony play at the Action Jazz Cafe on 12/30/07. Well more like a mini get to know me thing. He did play a little Stick however and I "believe" he went through a line6 basspod. I don't remember the model but it was the cheaper floor model shaped like a BEAN with a volume peddle. He was amplified with a small Fender bass amp that "I believe" belonged to the back-up band. Even with different equipment Tony still got HIS sound. A bit of "click" and a touch of distortion. I'm a firm believer that a large part of a person's sound comes from their technique because you know he wasn't using this setup on his recordings through the years. I got a chance to shake his hand and talk "a little " Stick with him. He was a very down to earth nice guy for a person on his professional level! IF my friend ever sends me the photo she took of me with Tony I'll post it.

Re: POD X3 Live...
Highjacking my ownthread...been dissecting T.L.'s Stickman C.D.(which I,m now convinced is a "dance" album) and the sounds he gets are way varied-and way cool.
