Post String cleaning
What do you guys use to clean your strings at the end. of the day? Just got something called "Jim Dunlop" that's suppose to be a top product for your everyday cleaning :) The only thing I ever used on the upright bass was alcohol but the strings are completely different from my railboard :)

Actually, on a recommendation from Per Boysen, I DO use alcohol. Commercial products tend to add unwanted build-up on the strings.

Post Re: String cleaning
I dont clean my strings after I play, ever, and rarely wipe the back of the board, cause Im lazy. In my humble opinion I would not put any chemicals on my strings at all. Anything you use is a contaminant, and alcohol itself leaves a film. When I was a starving bass player, I boiled them on a rusty hot plate like a loser, but I have a day job now.

If they start to sound like crap, change 'em. (this is good practice for you scaredy kats) I buy 3 sets at a time usually, and go through those sets in about 14 months. I find the pricing for Emmetts strings extremely reasonable, not much more than a pack of rotosound swingbass.....Canada anyways....

cheers,
kev
