Post New Amp Series from QSC
As QSC's GXD Series of power amps is not a direct successor to a product line with which I made myself familar, so I will quickly compare them to the Crown XLS DriveCore 2 Series about which I wrote recently:

Parity
  1. The power output of the QSC GXD 4 is roughly equal to the Crown XLS 2002, at the same price.
  2. The power output of the QSC GXD 8 exceeds the entirety of the Crown XLS Drivecore 2 line, for $200 (33%) more than the Crown XLS 2502.
  3. Both series have fourth order Linkwitz-Riley filters.

Pros
  1. Four bands of fully parametic EQ are available per channel.
  2. The high pass filter goes down to 20Hz: in case any of you are crazy enough to use a suboctave effect on the bass side.
  3. The limiting is adjustable, and the controls are such that it should be easy for people who are unfamiliar with limiting to set up.
  4. The internal power supply is universal: world travelers, take note.
  5. The warranty is twice as long: six years as opposed to three years.

Cons
  1. Bridged output is not supported.
  2. The signal to noise ratio is worse: 100dB as opposed to ">103dB".
  3. The lowest input sensitivity setting is 1.2V.

Rob,

Thank you so much for all you do on this forum. You've got me thinking in new ways about speaker cabinets, and you're making me want to do strange things, like frequency analysis.
