Whoa! It’s the twin brother of my #5162! Exactly the same features.
Are you sure about the year of construction?! I remember something around 2003 or 2004…

N.B. What follows is just mathematical speculation. None of it in anyway reflects on Zoom.Fractal. History is complicated, often not clear & rarely mathematically accurate... :D LOL!

FWIW my two #58XX Sticks both left SE in mid 2009. If your (Yannick) #5162 were mid 2004 that would be ~700 sticks in 5 years, ~140 per annum. As this is just an approximate let's call that 150, so ~3 per week. Assuming a steady rate across all the years of production (a very big & dubious assumption) that would result in around 7-8000 Sticks by now which is not far from what we have.

2007 to 2009 would mean ~700 sticks in 2 years, ~350 per annum, ~7 per week. Not impossible, but maybe hectic, & doesn't work as an average since 1974.

Maybe you (Yannick) have a point? I know that one of my Sticks turned out to be earlier than the seller thought.

I see you (Yannick) also have #5743. Do you know the date for that?

Not this matters to everyone...
I have #5657 12-string dark bamboo Grand Stick ordered Aug. '07 told 9 mos. Arrived Feb. '08. 2 months early and it was 20 degrees in New Jersey when it arrived and who-knows-what in Woodland hills when it shipped. It was IN TUNE.
February 2023 this winter in NJ has been 14 degrees one day & 60 the next. Dry as weeds and then humid as Florida. I have to tweak and tune EVERY DAY.
Please don't tell me about humidifiers this is just an anecdote.

Yep! I found back a conversation with Emmett in Mid-August 2008 where I told him I just received my brand new Grand #5743.

For my older #5162 I remember Bob Culbertson was in Europe at this time for a Stick Seminar in Germany with André Pelat and after they came together to a tapping festival in Brittany (west of France) at the beginning of November.

Hi!

Sorry, just now seeing this. I’ve sort of been out of the picture for a bit with some health issues and am finally starting to feel a bit better and getting back in the game.

Anyway, I went through my old messages. The seller I got it from told me that Emmett told him it was 2007, so that’s what I was going with. I’m going to try to call SE, and see if they can clarify. I definitely don’t want to misrepresent the age or anything else for that matter. But my understanding has been 2007, and if that is actually inaccurate, I do apologize.

Rather interesting that the bottom two tuners, one on each side, are wound reversed from all the rest on each side. Have i just never noticed that before, or does that not make tuning somewhat more interesting?

The string is wound in the opposite direction onto the reversed tuners.
They are all done this way to provide better string spacing. 8-)

Yes, but there have been some inquiries. Just got voicemail at SE so haven’t verified age yet. Although I did find my conversation with the previous owner, and he did say 2007 (for whatever that is worth).

If this is still available I have an sb8 for a trade, I would definitely trade that for a 10-string with rails and stick up.

Rey @ warwick.net.
I tried to send a message.
