What's up with this guy on Reverb.com trying to hock a Stick for 6,500?
Just seems a bit garishly overpriced. He is claiming it's due to its rarity of the Graphite build.
What do you think? Justified, or greedy?

Probably unrealistic as much as anything...it's been up for a (cue Dave Mathews) long long time

Agree. Currently "Listed 7 months".

It seems he's more interested in trying to find some one desperate enough to pay an unrealisticaly high price than in getting a sale?

Sounds like someone who's too stubborn to admit they priced it too high. To take it down and relist or lower the current price to a realistic price may be too much for the seller, admitting they were wrong to be so delusional. I hope no one is THAT desperate to pay anywhere near that price.

I reckon we have to stick together, pun intended and not let SH price get out of hand like they have everywhere else.

....agreed, and now how should we proceed....you can't do more than inform....ok, no one has to buy the stick, then it will take care of itself....

Have my graphite 10 string on reverb listed for 2890 with soft and hard case and stand with free shipping. I more realistic price.

I have provided the following reference to the seller fwiw:
Mi ol Graphite

Seeing this type of pricing definitely let's you know who you are talking to. These were the same shovel merchants peddling hills littered with gold in the safe and sane hills of the old Northwest back in 1848. Our colony is not so easily duped...

Nowhere is this "rare is valuable" type of thinking on reverb more pervasive than when searching for a Chapman Stick. It is a thorn in our shoe Flint. The best we can do is to try and make potential buyers aware of these misinformed sellers who are trying to take advantage of our extended community.

SE isn't a huge fan of working on these for a few different reasons. but also...

The v1 pickup of the PASV-4 is no longer manufactured
The v1 pickup of the PASV-4 can only be services if parts are available
There are no close up pictures of the truss
There are no detailed pictures of the bridge
There are no detailed pictures of the butt
The lighting of these images might not reveal all superficial damage given the dark color of the graphite.

I would propose we create a new term for sellers who have chanced upon an instrument that they think is going to get them rich quick.

Maybe a survey is in order...

I have forwarded the following listing to the seller:
Reverb Listing
This one is less than half the price and we know who we are talking to - a player that wants to get the instrument into the hands of another player.

I assume they are counting on 12 string "more strings are better" lust (puts on some Kevin Keith as BG music)
Say, how did your foray into 12 turn out in the end?
