Post New Book - How to play Chapman Stick
I noticed this on Amazon today.
Has anyone had a look at the contents?

I had no idea this book exists! I am tempted to order it, but I wonder how informative it actually is.

I normally wait for reviews of a book before purchasing.

The Kindle version was free so I downloaded it - it's all text (no exercises or music etc) and reads like something AI generated, like ChatGPT. Even more strange to me - the picture on the cover is a low-res screenshot from one of my YouTube videos!

So no - not legit.

If you click the Author's name on the Amazon page it reveals that he has a many "How to Play <insert instrument name> Made Easy for Beginners" titles.

I didn't notice any review 'stars' on any of them...

I also notice that many (all?) are available on Kindle Unlimited at zero cost, so that may be a way for any one who has that facility to check it out?

That is quite funny actually! Thanks for the headsup

Thanks Rob. There are so many scammers out there.
Would you please report this to Amazon?
It will help people from getting ripped off.

Indeed I've reported the issue with Amazon. Wonder how far away we are from AI generated Stick music or videos...

I did that too & I agree that it's probably AI generated. In my 5 minute whiz through the whole 35 pages it all looked like generalisations & some bits were either downright nonsense (see quote below) or completely irrelevant (whammy bar?!!).

Quote:
ACCESSORIES AND EQUIPMENT

Accessories and equipment play a crucial role in enhancing the Chapman Stick playing experience. Since the instrument is played by tapping the strings with both hands, fingerpicking techniques are not applicable. Instead, players commonly use specialized tapping tools, known as "fingers" or "rails," to strike the strings. These accessories come in various materials and shapes, allowing players to customize their playing experience.

If it wasn't that they will probably manage to con money out of some people it would be LOL!

Hopefully they'll all get taken down before any harm is done?

Either this guy can play multiple instruments, or it is an AI generated text that parrots already available information on the internet. I found other books on the internet by the same author on how to play a Vihuela, Yehu, violin. Looks fishy.
