I saw this DIY Grand Stick pickup on Reverb this morning.
I didn't know that people were making their own pickups?

I've seen a few other home brew modules. Some better than others. I've considered trying my hand at something like that but I'm pretty satisfied with my Stickup and my PASV-4. Nowadays I'm using my energy to play.

For sure, yes people have developed their own pickups. This is from a chat with Jaap who pioneered an ACTV-3, which sounds very nice. You’ll recognises the EMG quality immediately!

Here’s a couple of demos:

I had plans a while back to fabricate an ACTV-4. The EMGs can be driven with 18v for extra headroom, which you hear on some bass and guitar forums occasionally. On the active side it would be possible to make a phase inversion circuit to get that hollowed-out sound from the EMGs. One day…

I’m interested in a pickup like this going into a stereo parametric EQ with memory presets. Not sure what that pedal is, but it must exist.

These do look enticing...

It has been great to see Jaap doing his thing with these pickups.

@Scronk, check out the - Source Audio EQ2 - it's essentially a 2 channel EQ workstation.

Trey Gunn had something pretty crazy mounted on his Grand Stick when KC played in Argentina, it literally looked like a P bass set up mounted on a metal plate with some cables coming off it.
