Hello folks - Stick noob here. I've been playing piano and keys for over 40 years, and dabbled in guitar and bass for nearly that long. I've dreamed of playing a Stick for the last 20, and am now ready to jump in the water. I'm looking for a playable, mid-90's or later instrument - adjustable truss rod, 3D bridge, in good condition. I think I'll learn in classic tuning, and presume light or medium strings. As you know, it's tricky to find an instrument, so I thought I'd try my luck here. If anyone has an extra instrument they'd be willing to part with at a fair price, particularly in Los Angeles or the Bay Area, I'd love to talk. Once I get my instrument, I'm also interested in taking Stick lessons, preferably in person in LA, but Zoom works too. I have a BA and MFA in music, so the lessons would be about technique, learning the instrument, and performance practice rather than music theory. My kindest regards, Nick Peck |

Stick found. A gorgeous bamboo Grand Stick is headed my way next week. If anyone has any current info on Stick teachers in the Los Angeles area, I’d appreciate the information. Thank you! |
