Hello folks -

Stick noob here. I've been playing piano and keys for over 40 years, and dabbled in guitar and bass for nearly that long. I've dreamed of playing a Stick for the last 20, and am now ready to jump in the water.

I'm looking for a playable, mid-90's or later instrument - adjustable truss rod, 3D bridge, in good condition. I think I'll learn in classic tuning, and presume light or medium strings. As you know, it's tricky to find an instrument, so I thought I'd try my luck here. If anyone has an extra instrument they'd be willing to part with at a fair price, particularly in Los Angeles or the Bay Area, I'd love to talk.

Once I get my instrument, I'm also interested in taking Stick lessons, preferably in person in LA, but Zoom works too. I have a BA and MFA in music, so the lessons would be about technique, learning the instrument, and performance practice rather than music theory.

My kindest regards,

Nick Peck

Stick found. A gorgeous bamboo Grand Stick is headed my way next week.

If anyone has any current info on Stick teachers in the Los Angeles area, I’d appreciate the information. Thank you!

Congrats.
Lessons are available via Skype. Been teaching Stick for 4 decades all over the world.
