Oz's Music has a Railboard in stock
Hi all, As some of you may know, Steve Osburn over at Oz's Music in Ann Arbor, Michigan is the only authorized Stick retailer in North America. Generally he doesn't carry a stock of instruments but he currently has a brand new Railboard in the store. It's blue and tuned Baritone Melody with medium gauge strings. The instrument was demoed at Interlochen but other than that it is brand new in the box. I'll put up some photos later on. I'm not sure what he's charging for it (I think it will be the same as SE at $1900 including the hard case with shipping charges extra). You can visit them on the web at http://www.ozmusic.com (although that instrument is not on his website yet) or you can call them at 734-662-8283. Oz has been playing and performing on Stick since the early 80s and has been a fixture in Michigan's Stick community kicking off the first of a dozen workshops here back in 1998.

Thanks for the Heads Up. I will be sure to give them a call and ask Oz for his feedback on the Railboard.

We were talking about a guy named Ken from Florida, I told him you post as "Metalken", which Oz found funny as "Metalken now has a metal-Stick"

Re: Oz's Music has a Railboard in stock
So this showed up today courtesy of UPS and Oz Music: Havent had a chance to tune it up yet, but I'll give it a go at lunch. This thing looks awesome. fit and finish is fabulous. I Haven't had a stick since I sold my grand back at the end of January in anticipation of ordering another on. I'm bound to be rusty, but I'm glad to have another stick!

Re: Oz's Music has a Railboard in stock
played it some unplugged at lunch. Impressions:
-The feel on bends is a bit strange. I'm sure I'll get used to it. It doesn't seem to affect the note otherwise, but I'll know for sure when I get home and try it out plugged in
-Every other part of the stick seems to beat out my last grand and just about every other stick I can remember owning. Sustain (unplugged) is awesome.
-Neck Profile is phenomenal. I don't even miss the previous profiles at all.
-Actually really dig the feel of the scooped out inlays when you're playing on either of the two lowest strings.
-HEAVY. Or, more appropriately, DENSE. Its not heavier than any of my 6 string basses, but it feels weird, because its so much less size-wise, but feels the same weight
-Action is SO low. it's absurd how low it is.
The only issue I can forsee anyone having is the feel of the bends. Most people so far don't seem to mind it, but I can see it being an issue for others.
Otherwise, this is everything you could want in a stick.
