My new video is an interview with Russell Keating.
I never had the opportunity to talk with Russell and we got carried away... before we knew it, we had been talking for two hours!
Sorry it's long but Russell is a great guy to talk with and a great player. Check out his you tube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/rqkeating

Have you heard about the Keating Mod for the NS? We talk about it at 40:25.

Watching now, Dean. Have I mentioned that I'm a big fan of your channel? Awesome!

I'm up to minute 40 so far and I'm really digging it, guys! I started at the Russell Mod part and then went back and watched up to that part and now I have the second half to go. I'm really enjoying learning about Russell Keating and his musical journey along the path to discovering Stick and NS/Stick.

My own NS/Stick order should be done in a couple of weeks. Excellent job, Dean! Well done!

I'll finish the second half tonight!

Steve

Thanks for watching!

I planned to keep these short but we just get talking and it's just so much fun!

This is the first time I really get to talk with Russell and he is so much fun to talk with.

An excellent interview, guys! Thanks for the nearly 2 hours discussion! My wenge neck on wenge body stained ebony black NS/Stick is about 3 weeks into its order and will hopefully be ready within a couple of weeks or so. I'll be joining your ranks soon enough! By the way, I saw that on Facebook, Steve Leonardi posted his NS/Stick to his profile pic. His looks like a wenge as well. (And another Stickist Steve, and an NS Steve!)

Can't wait! Meanwhile, I've been tearing up my Railboard on the bass side, and making really bad-ass riffs--I'm really ready to start rocking out the NS! I also changed my order from heavy gauge strings to medium, as my Rosewood 10-string and Railboard are all medium.

Dean or Russel, or anyone else, any opinions on string gauges for the NS? (Slight hijack, sorry!) But still, excellent video and well worth the 2 hours!

Thanks for watching!

I would start with the recommended Heavy gauge to start with. That used to be all that they offered without asking for anything custom... and I've actually never used any other gauge...
I will start a new string to see if anyone has used any other gauge.

This was a really interesting interview. Russell's candid answers on pretty much anything asked were entertaining and inspiring. I have a big stack of "Guitar Player" magazines, and I went through 'em and found a bunch of interesting stick ads and whatnot... Actually, this whole interview reminded me of a Guitar Player magazine interview. Cool.

Now, I'm coming to Tony Levin a bit late; I like the Stick Men first, and am JUST getting into King Crimson. It took a while, honestly I didn't really like it, but I am starting to like it a bit. Anyways, the discussion of influences and beginnings and stuff, man that was cool. Russell is a cool cat.

Anyways, I too am a bit on the fence about purchasing an NS. Keep making these videos, and I will keep on watching them!

Thanks to those that have watched ... even just a few seconds :)

In the video we talked about my instrument builds and how I don't upload enough to Youtube. Here is my latest video that also demonstrates my latest build. This instrument is tuned exactly like an NS.
