Hi Russell - I bought him an inexpensive 5-string touchstyle bass a few months ago to see if he could still play, I didn't want to make a big investment unless I was sure he could play and happily he can, and is playing more and more. He does need to sit though and a lap stand didn't work for him, so we got a sturdy cymbal stand. The touchstyle bass has a block with a thumb screw on the back which allows it be attached to the cymbal stand - it can then be angled in any way he wants and he simply positions himself in front of the bass. He doesn't have to support or position the instrument at all. I think the NS/Stick could be used with a Gracie Performer Stand (which holds the body of an electric bass) and used like the cymbal stand we got, but not sure how the SB8 could be held on a stand? Any ideas?

There is an adapter (maybe more than one?) so that the Stick can be mounted to a cymbal stand.

I believe he was distributing them or something

And don't forget, the SB8 is built on the same platform as the regular 10 string Stick. So if your friend can try a 10 string he will at least be able to get some what of an idea on how a Stick feels.

Hi,

If I only had one hand to use, and I was primarily a bass player, I'd go for Dual Bass Reciprocal on a 10-string, preferably a standard 10 (with the PASV-4) or a Railboard.

This tuning gives you a familiar 6-string bass on strings 1-6 with the low B and E right in the middle of the board, where they are most easy to access, and it also gives you the whole universe of amazing Stick chords in inverted 5ths, all accessible by one hand.

For more about this amazing tuning see:

If you have any questions please feel free to email me or post them here.
