Post My new Half-Fretless NS/Stick
Hi all,

Just wanted to keep you posted. As some of you may know, a few months ago I was prospecting for an NS/Stick and weighing the options. Well, I decided in favor of a half-fretless NS/Stick and a few months later, I finally have it!

Here's a first photo taken with my cell phone just to give you a feel for the color. Believe me, the photo does not do it justice. It looks a hundred times better in real life. Anyways hope you like it. I'll post more photos of it over the next few days.

Here's the link:

Thanks a lot for helping me make the right decision.
Be well,

Cedric

NICE ... If I could justify the expense I'd love a half fretless NS to sit beside my full fretted NS! Maybe some day! Enjoy your new instrument ... it looks beautiful!

Here's one more photo.

Once again, the photo does not do it justice. Looks so much better in person.

Be well,

Cedric

I gotta say, I remember I chose Indonesian Rosewood for a darker approach on the wood color. But the photo is really something different than looking at it now in real life.
I was happily surprised! Haha

Good luck man, I've heard Don Schiff play on that beast. Sounds really nice!

Peace:)

Yeah, I've shown it to a bunch of people over the past week and first they drool over its looks, then they double drool over its sound hehe.

I'm telling you, the half-fretless is a beast to learn, but it would've been the biggest mistake of my life to miss out on it. There's no describing how good it sounds.

I can only imagine.

Learning the stick itself is quite a task, I wonder when the original stick will get a half fretted side! It will like take 9000 years to learn hahahahhaha:D

Good luck with that man. As I have seen on Don Schiff's videos he uses the frets to hit the notes on the fretless side. And as a fretless bass player I tend to roll my fingers on the strings which I am used to on a fretted bass when doing pretty difficult chords. Don't do that or the notes will not be pitched perfectly, that makes the whole chord kind of sour. I hope that made any sense ?

I bet you know better than me haha:D

Love Adrian

Congrats on your new NS... I play a bamboo grand, and am thinking of getting an NS like yours... How is the sound? Do you get that "MMMWWWAAAA" that one can get on a fretless bass? How about that mid-range "burp" ie, back pick up on a Fender jazz? The instrument is just beautiful!!! Enjoy!! :D

If you take a look here:http://stickist.com/gallery/pic.php?mode=large&pic_id=189 you'll see a pic of my 1/4 fretless Grand Stick. It's not as hard to play as one would think, in fact I find it easier to play in tune than fretless bass or upright, since the pitch reference is on the instrument itself.
And the sound... the sound is wonderful! In fact I'm playing it exclusively for a new project I'm ivolved in.
There are also 1/2 fretless Sticks around (like this one:http://stickist.com/gallery/pic.php?mode=large&pic_id=176), but I personally didn't like too much the sound of the higher bass strings, so I got the idea of having the 1/4 made (and Emmett very graciously agreed to it).
