Post Introducing "Kwaku Anansi"
Kwaku Anansi is an eight-string musical instrument named after the trickster of Akan/Ashanti folklore. Kawaku Anansi is made of mahogany and bamboo, materials associated with Africa.

Let's resurrect the post "do your instruments have names & what are they? Mine do...

Post Re: Introducing "Kwaku Anansi"
Small update:

I haven't had it 48 hours, and already I'm changing Anansi's tuning. I ordered it with "low guitar tuning," BEADGBEA, but after playing with it for an hour, I tightened the B to a C, making it "guitar tuning," BEADGCEA.

Before ordering it I had some idea of playing Steve Hackett's "Horizons" on it, using strings 2-7 as a contrabass guitar. That way all the harmonics would work out just right. But now I'm thinking that if I want to play a guitar tune, including Horizons, I can just transpose and play it on strings 1-6.

Guitar tuning basically gives me two instruments, a standard six-string bass, and a standard baritone guitar. I think this is easier for me to keep straight in my head.
