I haven't opened it up, butI assume there's a battery inside the NS/Stick for the active pickups. Does leaving the instrument plugged in run down the battery when I'm not playing?

Yeah, that battery is on when it's plugged in and not when it's not. I leave my Railboard plugged in a lot on its Tagg stand but not the NS or my Rosewood 10-string, both which have active pickups and a battery.

You could easily add a SPST mini toggle to turn off the battery so you could leave it plugged in. Just remember to turn it off.

Way more trouble than it’s worth.

It’s just easier to unplug. And that way , less likely to trip over the chord and take your plugged in instrument with it.
