Re: Music that was made for stick before the stick was Invented
I think a lot of the 1980's and 1990's classic video game music is perfect for stick. Aside from the fact that the Super Mario Stick is popular on You Tube, the old video games were often made with only three or four tracks.
Essentially you would have
1) Monophonic melody lead
2) Monophonic bass line
3) One monophonic note of harmony, often arpeggiated for chords
4) Occasional monophonic percussion, but often out of the way of arpeggios or bass lines to make it easier on the sound chip
Human Stick players have already done that and beyond already so I will look forward to learning video game soundtracks from my youth for Stick when I get one.
They were also a fairly blank sonic slate, being bloops and bleeps before samples came in later so adding amp tone and real strings on frets could take them in fun new directions.
Imagine the martial arts movie effect of the Street Fighter II soundtrack on Stick...Or the metal mayhem of Space Harrier...the thousands of side scrolling shooters...The blues jam of River City Ransom and the heavy funk of Toe Jam and Earl or Streets of Rage...
Ah the memories
