I think some of the early baroque music written in the 16th / 17th century for theorbo would perfectly adapt to the stick. Both stringed instruments share the idea of combining the guitar (lute) and bass range, whereas the theorbo has unfretted open (and very long) bourdon strings.
Solo music for theorbo was written by e.g. Kapsberger, Piccinini, DeVisee (also Bach for archlute) and often features a melody voice with a (counterpoint) bass line.
When I got my new N/S stick I will explore more on this :)

This sounds interesting, do you have any links to some sheet music? I'd love to check out some for the theorbo.

Hello Eric,

It is quite difficult to get music sheets for theorbe ...
Sheetmusicplus have some, but many of them are transcribed for guitar:

Better source is OMI in New York, but some re-prints are expensive:

Search for theorbo, theorbe, archlute or chitarrone.
But be aware that this music is written originally in tablature - and it takes some time to read and transcribe into notes we are used to ...

I planned to transcribe the Chaconne by Rober de Visée (a minor) for stick:

Its a wonderful piece of music IMHO :)

If you can't find sheet music you could always use a freeware program like MuseScore and print midis, if you can find midi files of the songs.

Here are some links that might help in a search to grab some midis:

There is more to be had here than anyone is likely to have time to hear, let alone play.
