Post Worn Jack/Grounding Issue?
I've noticed a grounding issue with my NS. Seems I get a noticable hum whenever I switch to mono mode. I've tried a couple of different cables and still have the same problem.

The jack, I've noticed, feels a little loose--a couple times my cable has actually fallen right out of it!

I've tried cleaning the jack out with a q-tip and some alcohol, but no improvement. Also, the jack's enclosed so I can't try to bend the contacts and make it tighter.

Thoughts? Tips?

You need to replace the jack, which is really easy if you can solder.
If you can't solder take it to any guitar repair dude and they can do it .
or send it to Stick Enterprises.
Not a big deal ,stuff wears out.

Oh, I don't think I'd have a problem soldering a new jack. ;)

But...since I'm looking at getting a new jack, and was going to build myself a new instrument cable anyway, now I'm wondering if a different kind of three-conductor termination might be a good option. XLR, anyone?

If you are going to replace, I would use the exact same jack, since I believe it's a switching jack, which activates the pickups.

Also, you could have a ground loop issue. Does the hum always happen in stereo?

Good point. Anyone know the part number/manufacturer, or does SE carry replacements?

Actually it occurs when I switch to mono. It disappears when I switch to stereo.

Post Update
Just thought I should post an update. I finally called SE and Cambria promptly sent out a replacement jack (chalk up yet another point for SE Customer Service).

I soldered it in...not too difficult. Easiest way to do it and not mess things up is to de-solder the wires from one tab and immediately re-solder them on the corresponding new tab one at a time.

Jack feels much more solid plugging in--and the hum is gone. :D
