On a string note: Basically I am ace with the standard NS set. But I want the highest 4 strings to be way heavier. OR at least the 2 highest strings. IS that doable? Anyone feel like the top few strings could be heavier? I digres[/color]s

Problem is, heavier strings have to be strung tighter. I experimented substituting them myself at one point, but the increased weight up top wasn't worth the loss in playability. Maybe I'm just weak. ;)

I get the impression Emmett selected the gauges on the NS to transition evenly from having heft for bass parts on the lower strings to having a lot more upper harmonics (resulting in a more "lead-like" timbre that's able to readily cut through a mix) on the high strings.

At least to me, the "G" on an NS has more of a baritone feel to it than what I was used to on a bass guitar. That means for some lines I shift up the neck sooner as opposed to reaching across to the G (which of course is no problem on the NS).
