Hi,

so it's a kind of "Back to Wood" ?

Will it just be available with bamboo laminate or in other hardwood laminates aswell?

Maple would be great. Very hard and not to heavy I guess.

Cheers

Half fretless versions can still be done but it's a bit labor intensive and would add $400. onto the price. Although the fretless sound and expression is great on the four bass strings, the intonation of each note adds another element to the mental concentration needed for two-handed string tapping.

I appreciate all the compliments on the new photos so far. "Sweet" I can understand (I think so too), but "moist" - I just don't know.

Best, Emmett.

In fretless circles, seems like Harder=better (or at least has more growel). Bamboo's more rigid than some hardwoods, but is it harder?

<<< Wonders how a bamboo half-fretless would sound...

But it's damn worth the blood and sweat, every drop of it.

I remember the uncertainty in my first few days with the half-fretless NS, scared that I'd gone in way over my head. Can't say I've mastered the instrument by any stretch of the imagination, but the satisfactions it gives me are other-worldly.

The half-fretless isn't for everyone. It depends on what you want to achieve. To me, it's a dream come true.

And to stay on topic, very well done with the new NS! It looks awesome!

Are the graphite necks still going to be available?

Hi Frank,

I don't believe so.

Greg,

Would it be feasible to invert the bass and melody groups so they are uncrossed like a Warr Phalanx? Would there be a custom charge for this?

Loving the rails, loving the bamboo.

Also, what is the current wait time for these instruments?

K

Hi Kev,

Greg had that very idea a couple of years ago. We looked at the layout of both the bridge and the stringlocks in the nut - no-go. As I recall (I no longer have the NS) the bridge was the main stumbling block. See the photos here: http://stick.com/instruments/ns/bridge.html.

Take care,

Paul

Emmett - I gotta give it to you. The all black hardware on the maple body of the N/S on your website is simply beautiful.

Amazing job!

Wow. I never knew bamboo was fitting for fretboard wood! But it's very appealing to own a instrument made from bamboo. I'd love to have it. It's no like they cut down the rainforest to get it!

The stainless steel frets. I suspect there should be a difference in timbre from ordinary frets when you use stainless steel, and maybe even more difference when they are pyramid shaped. Do the sound get more pointy? What happens to the tone when you change to these frets?
