Post NS/Stick modification ...
Hi,

Like to share this with you:
I love my NS/Stick more than any other instrument, but unfortunately when I had adjusted the strap length for vertical playing (tapping) I did not fell comfortable with an angled horizontal position for plucking and vice versa.
So I came to the idea to use a NS boomerang strap designed for the NS cello (or similar). With the boomerang strap it is possible to rotate the instrument in a pivot point and also adjust the tilt angle towards the body.
Well, but how to fix the NS/Stick to the NS boomerang strap?
Visiting my brother, who is a master organ-builder in Germany, I got the support I needed ;)

Building an adapter of massive brass

with an outer thread to fix to the instrument

and an inner thread to fix to the NS strap

Two small screws ensure that the adapter stays in place

Then a hole in the instrument body

and again a thread

Ready to assemble

and the adapter in place

And this is how it looks when the NS boomerang strap is fixed

Strap adjustment and playability is now perfect for me - really happy :D

Cheers,
Uli

Awesome!

Beautiful machine and wood work.

I had an NS Bass-Cello for a while, and did really like the boomerang strap.
It is really perfect for an NS.

Now if only your brother will go into production so I can have one for my NS too.

Thanks for sharing.

Lee

That's pretty amazing. Nice tools and nice work.
Once I win the lottery I will be assembling a tool shop along similar lines....almost forgot to by my ticket today!

I don't have my NS yet,but couldn't this modification be done at SE? I watched a video about the boomerang strap, and the level of control that it gives, completely sold me.

Very old thread and I wish the pics still worked.
I've been wondering about this modification myself, and wondered if SE or Steinberger would be able/willing to set this up. Seems like a logical addition to the instrument. Anyone have any insight?
Thanks!
