Post LH out of commission for a bit...ideas for RH exercises?
So, I foolishly didn't wear gloves doing a bunch of yard work yesterday and ended up with a bunch of splinters in my left hand...then to add insult to injury (or in this case maybe the other way around) gave myself a small but *deep* cut on my left pointer finger.

I could continue work on chords but I've found that working out patterns always locks in better for me when I play with the root in the LH.

Any thoughts on things I can do just with my right hand for a week or so (hopefully it's that short a time frame...)?

Have you thought of coating your cut finger with superglue?

Seems like a good time to learn LH parts with your RH. Think uncrossed. Also get your thumb in the mix. Try using your thumb for bass notes and chords with your other fingers.

You could also learn in a classical guitar style with the right hand.

Try something new and have fun!

Hey...

I just bought a book of German classical songs from the bargain bin. Margret Uies - Melodiespiel Auf Der Altblockflote, whatever that is.... ha.

I found a number of 10-16 bar exercises/melodies that have no Stick -centric Staff Tab and I've found they force me to realise other melodic intervals which also point towards diatonic chord shapes. I find it comforting to try and read simple piano scores, mostly just the melody side, whatever you feel compelled to go for.

You can find any number of single page melodies on the net which serve a similar purpose.

Secondly you might extend your touch by checking out what grasp you have of controlling the note length of any given phrase. legato - staccato.

Cheers.

Hi Radkon, do you have sites as example with those single sheet melodies ? I like this approach :-)

Cheers,
Bas
