I use my n/s with two amps, one bass and one guitar as normal. I play some of the show with it all in bass amp and sometimes with it split between the two amps. Has anyone modified the output selector switch to run three ways? Sometimes I want all of the output to go to the guitar amp, mostly to keep it all clean in the center range of the instrument. Has this modification been successfully performed? Any ideas?

I haven't done it, but it shouldn't be tough to do. Right now, if I understand it correctly, switch "up" gives you:

Tip = Bass
Ring = Guitar
Sleeve = Ground

Switch "down" sends both Bass and Guitar to Tip.

All you would need to do is find a 3 position switch, and wire the third pole so that Bass and Guitar would go to Sleeve.

Come to think of it, while we're at it, maybe we can figure out how to get it not to drop volume when it shorts both to Tip. Dang...time to open up my NS.

O.K., I took a peek and right now it's a mini DPDT switch, but only one pole is really doing anything (Guitar to ring, Guitar to tip).

What you need is a Dual-Pole, 3-way switch. I tried to explain it but a diagram is much simpler--I'll post one soon.

The tough part might actually be finding a switch small enough to fit.

What I really need to figure out is a way to get rid of that darned ~3dB level drop when you combine the output of both pickups. The only "safe" way (i.e. not digging into the existing electronics) would involve a summing amp. Could be as simple as a couple of resistors and the Tillman fet preamp, I'd wager. Though it'd probably eat batteries pretty bad.

I use the Tillman circuit in a small preamp and the battery lasts for a very long time. Actually, I'm driving two of the circuits with one 9-volt and I think I get six months out of one battery. I added a power switch to the box but I don't bother using it anymore. Oh, and it makes a Stick sound great, too.
