Post Moving the low string on an N/S. Possible?
I was looking at photos of a used N/S and see the low string is in the same position as on bass. I see the standard arrangement of N/S' is 4+4. I'd like to move the low bass string to one of the inner positions in one of the groups of four. Can it be done?

Yep, I've seen and played some. Pretty trippy to play a variant on the classic stick tuning with 5ths and 4ths on the 8 string NS. I think the low string was near the middle. I do think you have to do some minor adjustments tho for sure. Unless I misunderstood ya, someone will correct me if im wrong

If you've played them then I we can all know they exist. Thanks. You must move in interesting circles of people to have seen and played more than one.

I have had the amazing chance to try many tunings and setups! Life changing really. Tried a few different "tappers', and feel so lucky to have been able to. I mainly play 10 string baritone melody. But I can burn pretty well on the NS too, mainly from my old 6 string bass backround. At this point I feel you don't really lose physical chops because I don't ever practice technical stuff on NS but back in the day I would tap on the 6 string doing all kinds of unholy exercises which I suppose paid off. And tapping chops seem to stay around even better.

It can be done, just be aware that the string spacing at the bridge can not be changed. On the standard NS tuning the higher pitched strings are closer together, to make them feel more like a guitar than a bass.

Check out the specifications box at the bottom of the page for details on this:

I believe these tunings are now available directly from SE on a new NS/Stick.
